Another bitching moment. Happened this afternoon. I was so excited about the trip that i hope to have in December with Aishah. Bangkok here we come! She has done the research on air tickets. Seems like Jetstar gives us the best deal. So now, i am left with the hotel search. We have decided to go with The Twin Towers cos i have stayed there like a million times and the hotel is just amazing and very convenient. Good hospitality at affordable prices. In total, the trip will cost us $490 each (at least). So here we thought a tour package might be cheaper.
I voluntered to call up some agencies. Surfed the net and managed to get the contact details of some renowned agencies. I dialled their numbers respectively. And I had the biggest shock to the kind of service they gave me!
A snipets to some of the responses i received from those known agencies were:
Agency A
Ring Ring ***
Staff: HELLO!!! (He was shouting at the top of his voice. Angry and utterly rude)
Me: Can i know your Free & easy package to Bangkok? (already irritated by his lack of manners)
Staff: Tsk tsk... no flight available. tsk tsk... aiyah! .... and the rest of the conversation was mostly him sighing... but no useful information was given. WTF
Agency B
Ring Ring**
Staff: Hello.. welcome to M*** travel agency... (nice sweet voice)
Me: ASked the same question
Staff: (Had a change of tone). Sigh!! WAIT! -> Put me on hold for like 5mins... And came back to the phone. Hmmm ya we haf flight. Wat hotel u want? Hmmph... ya haf. But no flight back.
Me: Hmm.. so that means what? I have to return back the next day?
Staff: Hmmm don't know. Maybe. Up to you
Me: Huh? Up to me? Then how the heck do you expect me to come back if there is no flight? You want me to swim back? Sigh....Can you guarantee that the room will still be available if i extend?
Staff: Hmmm... maybe. cannot confirm la.
Me: Huh? Hopeless. Whateverla. Thank you.
And with this last agency, i have to attempt some hanyu pinyin. Apologies for the misspellings and singlish.
Agency C
Ring Ring**
Staff: Wei!
Me: Huh? Oh hello
Staff: Can i heb u?
Me: Same request
Staff: Hmm.. yo la. Ten ten (meant "wait" in english)
Me: Can you speak English. I am not chinese.
Staff: Oh keyi keyi (meant "can" in english)
Me: So any package?
Staff: Heng qui (expensive) leh. U sure u want or not?
Me: Hmm.. how much?
Staff: $580 la. Sui sui..
Me: Hmm.. that is expensive. It's ok. Thanks anyway
So that marked my experience with 3 reputable agencies. Just take note of the tone they used and the fluency in the english medium. My god! And here i am so proud to call myself singaporean... the country known for its cleanlines, fines, good service and fluency in the English language. So not the case! Sheesh!
PS: Sha we shall book the room and air tickets on our own. Definitely much cheaper than those darn packages!
