Speak Mandarin Please!

Aren't we suppose to be living in a metropolitan, multiracial society? What is the point of embracing multicultural stance and racial harmony, when the bulk of the companies here are still stressing Mandarin as a job necessity? This is a form of racism, cos if you think about it... it is a subtle way of saying, "Sorry mate. We want only Chinese in our company!" Do you think they wil hire us Malays if we speak the language? Pls.. of course not. We are not born with minute eyes and a tongue best used to converse in Singlish language!

For gods sake, you recite the pledge since the time you learn how to speak! Those words count for something. So do not live here if you DO NOT preach what you believe in... and in case you have forgotten.. here's our pledge

"We, the citizens of Singapore,
pledge ourselves as one united people,
regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and
progress for our nation.

Whatever it is...i do not give a damn. It is their loss to select their employees based on the knowledge of the Mandarin language. There is such a thing as language courses which you could send us to. Spoken Mandarin is not as hard to learn. Try learning Arabic.. and then we shall see who is smarter!
