It has been frustrating... been trying to find the dvd/vcd of Muay Thai Chaiya everywhere! But no stores are selling it. And one store in city hall said to me that this movie is banned. They are not to carry any R21 movies. I recalled the movie being m18. And excuse me mr, you have Saving Private Ryan and Saw(the who 3 series) in your store. Those shows were definitely more violent than this thai movie.
Anyone seen this being sold anywhere.. let me know! PLS!!! I simply LOVE the show!
Been seeing several articles about teachers/principals who did not perform their duties as rightfully as they should be. One who requested the Normal stream students to opt for ITE rather than attempt the O levels the year after. Just so to suit the boost the school ranking. Or badly put, to ensure these less academically inclined student do not potentially bring down the results of the O levels.
WHat kind of reasoning is that? Is that the way you see your students as? Just as object to assist in your promotion or even a booster to your reputation? You discard the "less needed" students for the good ones only? As a teacher/principal, you are seen as a leader, a guide for the kids, the students. You are to be fair and assist them in any way possible. To mould their future. To be a better person, student, and citizen. Are you putting your personal interest forward at the expense of your social responsibility?
I have had such experience before back in my school days. I, unfortunately, have me several "poorly trained" teachers and they made me wonder the reasons behind them actually becoming one. Is it out of obligation or is it to fulfil their burning passion?
Back in secondary school, one particular teacher i HATE, was Mdm Goh Lily. Or Goh Lily i would call her.. omit the mdm.. or "teacher"... I really despise her due to her bad attitude towards students, me especially. She was this gloomy teacher, really bad tempered woman.. not to mention a hunchback, a midget and darn right U.G.L.Y!
As if she was born to cause misery to anyone she sees. Wonder how her hubby could tolerate her nonsense.. that WITCH (hmm. if i recalled correctly, i have seen her scolding her hubby before on her mobile, for coming 5mins late to pick her up from her school).
She was just a Maths HOD but she thought she was the displinarian of the school. She would come directly to me, in the morning to wipe of any makeup residue on my face (not that i am wearing any), to check the length of my skirt and even to see if i was doing my silent reading, silently! It was the most humiliating ordeal i had to go through.. for the whole of my 4yrs in the school. Such a bully! She would totally ignore those ah lians next to me, who wore mini skirts, 2-inch makeup and talked as loud as those fishmongers you see at the marketplace!! How biase can she get!!!
Oh... the best part, she came up to me one day, final yr in school.. to say that i would fail my Maths (as a "goodluck" wish before i sit for my O's). Hello!! I was the maths rep for the whole goddamn Sec 4 level! I was the Maths Tutor for the cohort. Scored A1s for my maths throughout sec3-sec4 prelims. What basis has she to curse me like that! Stupid!
Angered by her remarks, with god as my witness, and a couple of my girlfrens, i made a bet with her. "Orite. If i were to get an A1 for my O'level maths, you will EAT my shoe!" And the dumb witch accepted the bet. True enough, i scored and A1.. and waiting patiently outside the staff room for her. She came out. I smiled. Razinah, i remembered vividly, said out loud my score. She pretended not to hear. I took off my shoe, and threw it on her face. "Now you shall eat it!". She screamed at me, of course, for being rude. And the principal was called to handle the commotion. I explained to her.. and definitely, my ex-maths teacher received a one on one pep Talk with the principal. I was soooo glad to do what i did. She deserved it!!!
This was an example of one lady who should have reconsidered millions of times before she took up the teaching profession! She was not cut out to be one for sure!
I am not saying that teachers are bad. They are great individual. It is not easy to be a teacher, to control the class and to mould them to be a better individual. They have to wear many hats at one time... and PATIENCE is utmost pertinent for this career.
However, only passion can differentiate the good teachers from the GREAT ones. And i am equally lucky to have found some amazing ones..

Out with 2007. In with the new year! Another addition to my already old old age! Sigh. I can't believe the time just flew by so fast. Turning 27 is so not what i am looking for this year.The more i think about my fading youth, the worrier i get. So many thoughts in my mind. One by one of my past classmates are getting married. To date, 6 of them this year… and counting! Just waiting for the invites to reach my doorstep.. Pressures mount.
The golden question becomes a common phase.. i just keep hearing it everywhere i go! "When are you getting married?" Arrgggggghhhh... why rush? I know when it is time for me to get hitched. I do NOT need all these constant reminder, thank you.Getting married is the least of my problem. What concerns me most is whether motherhood is the thing for me. Can i really care for my young? With so much that is happening right now, escalating peer pressure, western influences, pop idolism, etc! What will really happen to our young? Will they ever be a better individual under our guidance?
Our children are growing older younger and want to be adults when we still see them as kids. And as well as acting grown up they want to look like adults too. But is it all too much too young?
Time and time again, we heard of stories of teenage pregnancies, underage sex (the case of the 9yr old), anorexia and bulimia and many more. What is the world turning into? Are they growing too fast for us to play catch up? Found an article online about the same worrying trend in the states. A nation faced with an abundance of youngsters who've decided that childhood is over and it's time to achieve aesthetic perfection through dieting, surgery and sunbeds and experience the rites of passage of drink and sex.
Teenagers who started having sex from as young as 12 - and now say they've had so much sex they're bored with it. The “poke and run game”, a popular pastime for most teenagers in the west.
Based on a tv serial, a fourteen-year-old Caz tells the crew that she has been having sex since she was 12 because it makes her feel more confident. To date she's had eight partners but hasn't always used protection. Another spoke of her multiple sexual encounters with school boys just so to become popular among the “cool kids”. OMG!Which is more troubling? Casual sex or unprotected sex? Teenagers today think condoms are a thing of the past and prefer to use the morning-after-pill as contraception. I think parents have got to realise that they can't stop their kids, they can't tell them no drugs, no sex, no drinking. Teenagers want to explore what they want to explore. Casual dating relationships in the teen years are based upon infatuation, lust, and peer or social pressure. There is usually little to no thought about life-long commitment, as its purpose is mainly to have a good time.
And so… What are we, as adults, and future parents to be, to do to assist our young in making the RIGHT decision? How are we to guide them, when we do not hold the answers?
There is no such thing as a good parent or a bad one. It is more a matter of experience and the willingness to learn and do that matters. Life is full of mysteries and untold challenges. It is a lifelong learning that all of us have to go through and embrace it as it comes. All I can say is, to do our best and never give up on our own flesh and blood. Learn from our mistakes, from our past, and to give as much love to our young as possible.
What I strongly believe is that, with a strong family and love aplenty, all things evil could be kept under control or best, eradicated. And may we pray for a better future for ours and all the kids out there!

Had the most magical new year ever last night with my beloved. A surprise dinner made specially for him. After hours of preparation, grocery shopping cum cooking, the meal is set. He set the ambience while i put together the food.
Was amazed at how creative he is. He could really set the mood for that romantic candlelight dinner, no matter where we might be. The sad thing was.... both our camera phones were a disappointment. His was grainy, while mine has really bad night mode . SigH! Nokia & Samsung, you let us down bad!!
Thank god the food was not a let down. He LOVED my 4 course meal (if you count the drinks). Learnt something new about myself last night -> I can actually cook a full meal, if i WANT to. A miracle just happened! ;) OMG!
