Baby suggested to go to the National Museum today. Been postponing the trip for almost a week, since we returned from Bali. The museum is displaying the Greek exhibition at the moment. Been doing so since Dec last year. Just got to know about it in the papers recently. And am so glad i went to witness the ancient sculptures and artifacts. Reminded me of my History days back in Jc, when i took up Greek history.. argh.. i miss my JC school days! I miss Miss Nam, my history tutor.
Quick late lunch at Magic Wok, Novena Square. My fried kway teow, with seafodd and cili padi was really really HOT! Too much cili... and didnt quite like the basil leaves... Baby had his usual phad thai.. and of course, both of us had the sweet coconut drink followed by lognan pudding. The latter was a tad too hard. Didnt finish that one up.

After lunch, we went off to the museum. We paid the entrance fee of $8 each in order to have the guided tour. The exhibition was held at Basement 1. Kinda crowded, being the last day and all. Quite an extensive collection, all the way from France. And of course, one of the sponsors is Singapore Airlines/Cargo. Now we know who did the transportion for these precious historical evidences.
We toured the entire exhibition. Took us like an hr to do so. Baby made a point about how artifacts losing its ancient-ness once placed in a modern setting. Do agree with him, looking at the minimal setup done by National Museum to create that 'ancient Greek' feel. Felt a little too 'Singapore'. Overall, i enjoyed the enhibition. Was really extensive, from sculptures to paintings to artifacts like pottery, ancient toys, kitchenware and many more. Do you know that they actually had the first doll back in Greek times?
Let me take u to a virtual tour of the Greek Exhibition, 16th March 2008
